Blake Resnick, the 25-year-old founder of Brinc Drones, is making waves in the public safety tech world after closing a $75 million funding round led by Index Ventures. The Seattle-based startup is on a mission to revolutionize emergency response with its domestically manufactured drones designed for police and rescue operations.

Founded in 2017, Brinc has now raised a total of $157.2 million, with this latest round marking an up-round compared to its $55 million Series B in 2022. While the exact valuation remains undisclosed, the company was last valued at $300 million, according to Bloomberg.

Drones That Can Reach Before First Responders

Brinc’s drones are purpose-built for first responders, capable of reaching emergency scenes before a cruiser even hits the road. They’ve been deployed by police departments and public safety agencies across the U.S., offering a high-tech solution for hard-to-reach or dangerous locations.

The company’s innovative edge lies not only in its drone hardware but also in its new strategic partnership with Motorola Solutions. Motorola, whose technology powers a significant portion of the U.S. 911 infrastructure, is also participating in the funding round. This partnership will integrate Brinc drones directly into 911 call centers, allowing operators to dispatch drones during emergency calls — if cleared by Motorola’s AI system.

From College Dropout to Defense Tech CEO

Resnick, who dropped out of college and previously interned at DJI (China’s drone giant), has become a rising figure in U.S. defense and safety tech. Brinc is part of a growing wave of American drone manufacturers benefiting from stricter regulations against Chinese-made drones.

Brinc’s early supporters include OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, who backed the startup at its seed stage.

Battling U.S. Drone Giants

Despite strong momentum, Brinc faces tough competition. Rivals like Flock Safety and Skydio are valued in the billions, with Flock reaching a $7.5 billion valuation and Skydio hitting $2.2 billion. But Resnick remains unfazed.

“There’s plenty of room for innovation in a market still largely dominated by Chinese manufacturers,” Resnick told TechCrunch.

Brinc differentiates itself with unique tactical features, including drones that can break windows, deliver medical supplies, or enter buildings autonomously — features that could be life-saving in SWAT situations or medical emergencies. TL;DR:

Brinc Drones, founded by 25-year-old Blake Resnick, just raised $75 million to scale its emergency-response drone systems. With a Motorola partnership and U.S.-based manufacturing, Brinc is carving out a powerful niche in public safety — and taking on billion-dollar drone rivals one emergency call at a time.
